Trazodone (brand names Desyrel, Molipaxin, Deprax, Trittico, Thombran, Trialodine, Trazorel) is a psychoactive compound with sedative, anxiolytic, and antidepressant properties. Trazodone is a tetracyclic antidepressant medication that has the property of being a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI). Indications for Trazodone: Treatment of depression. Labeling: May cause priapism. Adult: Initially 50mg at bedtime; titrate to 100–400mg/day in 2–3 divided doses. Child 15kg+: 0.5mg/kg initially at bedtime; increase slowly up to 1–1.5mg/kg/day. Child <15kg: not established. Elderly: Initially 25–50mg at bedtime; titrate to 100–300mg/day in 2–3 divided doses. Use with caution in renal impairment or heart failure (CF). Pregnancy D risk after 30 weeks gestation; avoid prior to 30 weeks gestation when possible due to increased risk for persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN); use only if potential benefit justifies
