But with the Free Democrats out of the picture, this iteration of the grand coalition would be even more dominant, accounting for 504 of the 631 seats in the lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, and for a clear majority in the upper house, the Bundesrat. The other parties in the Bundestag, the left-leaning Greens and the radical Left party, would represent the weakest parliamentary opposition, as measured by their percentage of seats in the lower house, since 1969.
