Chromecast puts Google in the running, at least, and its $35 price tag alone may move a good number of units when placed near the checkout of electronics retail stores. But Google is betting that people are more likely to buy a product they don’t understand if it costs $35 instead of $99, even if they are more inclined to trust Apple when it comes to content consumption. If that’s all it takes to outwit AppleTV, then Apple has had the right formula and the wrong price point since 2006.
