Barnidge showed promise in minicamp and can catch the ball with his hands instead of his body. Smelley, a fullback at Alabama where he blocked for Richardson, could be an H-back in Turner's offense. Gronkowski, in his third NFL season, and Davis will be in the mix for the job of a blocking tight end that can catch. Davis caught 19 passes and scored two touchdowns for the Bears last season. Gronkowski did not play last season. He played in two games for the Browns in 2011 without making a catch.
